he first thing that strikes you upon entering the showroom of Only&Co is its openness. From the street, the eye travels uninterrupted through the space, past furniture pieces and textured materials, toward the working design studio at the far end of the room.

The layout creates a sense of continuity between showroom and workshop, making clear that this is not simply a display space but a place where furniture is conceived, developed and discussed. Each object is given room to breathe, positioned as part of an unfolding conversation about material, proportion and permanence. Light moves across wood, ceramics, upholstery and art, creating a quiet balance within the shell of a former restaurant.

Set on quiet side street near Las Ramblas, the showroom operates beyond a retail space: it is an open studio, a collaborative environment and an invitation into the world the company has built around craftsmanship and custom design. Visitors are encouraged to move through the space slowly, to touch surfaces, notice irregular edges, natural finishes and subtle details that reveal the hand behind the making. The atmosphere communicates the company’s core values before a word is spoken: quality over quantity, timelessness over trend and collaboration over hierarchy.

Founded in 2014 in Sri Lanka by Linden James, and later joined by Maximillian von Stillfried, Only&Co emerged from the meeting of two distinct professional paths. Linden, born and raised in the United Kingdom, studied product design and built his early career working with established design studios including Sebastian Conran, Target Living and Ben Whistler. His background in engineering, furniture design and product development shaped a technical understanding of how objects function, adapt and endure over time.

aximillian arrived at furniture through a different route. Originally from Germany, he spent years in the software industry and corporate business management before shifting toward craft and design. More recently, the company has expanded with the addition of Anna von Stillfried as marketing director. Coming from a fashion background, she brings a complementary perspective to the studio’s evolving identity and communication.

It was in Sri Lanka that the founders developed a shared approach to making, rooted in close relationships with artisans, natural materials and local production processes. Working primarily across residential and hospitality interiors, they refined a design language that balanced technical precision with organic craftsmanship. Their furniture combined tactile finishes with carefully sourced materials, establishing the foundations of a practice that continues to shape Only&Co today. Like many independent design businesses, Only&Co’s trajectory shifted during the pandemic. The disruption forced the founders to rethink production, logistics and market location, ultimately leading them to establish a new base in Mallorca.

The island’s evolving creative landscape became a natural setting for the studio’s next phase, allowing Only&Co to expand beyond furniture production into broader interior design projects and increasingly shape complete environments. A recent commission in La Bonanova saw the company take responsibility for interiors beyond furniture selection, reinforcing its role as a broader design partner.

Only&Co’s catalogue includes around 65 pieces spanning seating, sofas, dining tables, cabinets and ceramics, all customizable in scale, finish and material. The emphasis is on adaptation: each object responds to both space and client while remaining consistent with the studio’s design language. A balance between refinement and material honesty defines the work. Surfaces retain texture, subtle irregularities reveal the handmade process and natural grain remains visible. Comfort and proportion are treated with equal importance, creating furniture that feels as tactile as visually considered.
