rt Palma Summer takes place on Thursday, June 5th between 18h-22h. With twenty-four galleries and cultural institutions across Palma as well as in various locations across the island opening new exhibitions, Art Palma Summer marks the official launch of Mallorca’s summer art season. This is the tenth iteration of this event, organised by Art Palma Contemporarni, and it includes two new galleries to the program: Tube Gallery and Hauser & Wirth in Menorca.

Art Palma Summer will see the launch of LA BIBI + REUS, an exciting new collaboration between Fran Reus and Miquel Campins to include two spaces and a residency program. Reus has over 20-years of experience in the art world and Campins brings an experimental approach to exhibitions, making it a dynamic merger that will allow new initiatives and ideas to flourish. “Uniting under the name LA BIBI + REUS was organic and natural for us. Both Miquel and I aim to bring our distinct identities to a shared project that helps us become more competitive, offer better experiences, and reach farther,” says Reus. For Art Palma Summer, the ‘Country’ gallery, located in Establiments, in an old textile factory, will feature an exhibition of paintings by Caracas-born artist Fausto Amundarain. The inaugural exhibition at the ‘City’ gallery will be dedicated to a group exhibition titled : “Under a New Moon,” with work by Abel Jaramillo, Alejandro Javaloyas, An Wei, Bel Fullana, Callum Green, Fátima de Juan, Fausto Amundarain, Grip Face, Grölund - Nisunen, Irati Inoriza, José Fiol, Maite i Manuel, Marian Garrido, Julià Panadès, Miquel Ponce, Paul Riedmüller, and Srger.

o mark the summer art season and Art Palma Summer, Pep Llabres Gallery has invited artist and curator Tomeu Simonet to organise a group exhibition. Titled ‘Udol’, the exhibition brings together work by Albert Pinya, Maíllo, Tomas Perroteu and Adrián Martínez (who recently opened a solo show at Es Baluard Museum, curated by Esmeralda Gomez Galera)

—four artists who belong to the same generation, born in the mid-1980s, and whose work embraces a certain subversive attitude to artmaking and the establishment. As Llabres describes, “Through their work, they seek to challenge convention and provoke reflection in those who view it. This punk attitude and constant experimentation undoubtedly contributes to a unique energy in their work and to the exhibition as a whole.” These artists work in a variety of mediums including ceramic, textile and painting, leading them to explore new textures, forms, and concepts. This will be the fifth exhibition at the gallery curated by Simonet since 2021. As Llabres, notes, “Tomeu has the freedom to present the project he deems appropriate; we have known each other for a long time. We also know the differences between us regarding artistic taste, which is precisely one of the incentives that leads me to collaborate with him.”

Other highlights of Art Palma Summer include a solo show by Adriana Meunie at ABA, a solo show by Rafa Forteza at 6A, and the group show at Tube Gallery with work by Maria Thereza Alves, Rachael Louise Bailey, Seana Gavin, Bianca Hlywa, Yulia Iosilzon, YaYa Yajie Liang, Hannah Rowan, and Rain Wu. Hauser & Wirth Menorca’s summer exhibition series features a solo show by Mika Rottenberg titled “Vibrant Matter”. On June 23rd, they will open an exhibition by groundbreaking photographer Cindy Sherman; BARÓ Gallery has a curated exhibition by Rolando J. Carmona, featuring works by Alymamah Rashed, Bruno Novelli, Estevan Davi, Geoneide Brandao, Jeanne Gaigher, Mamali Shafahi, Mie Olise Kjærgaard, Oscar Santillán, Patricia Domínguez, Tabita Rezaire, Tecla Tofano, Yussef Agbo-Ola, and Zsófia Keresztes. Throughout the month of June, Art Palma Contemporani will offer special guided visits to several of the galleries. Visit here to learn more.
