aximalism comes to Mallorca in a fortuitous collaboration between Dusty Deco and Matthew Williamson that launched in late 2025. Lina and Edin Kjellvertz, the creative force behind the Swedish-born design brand Dusty Deco, which established a presence on the island nearly 10-years ago, were long-time fans of Matthew Williamson, the British fashion and interiors designer renowned for his use of vibrant colours and patterns. Williamson has a house in Deia and will open a new interiors and lifestyle shop, Caserra 71, this spring. “Edin and I were big fans of Matthew’s,” says Lina. “My background is in fashion and I worked at H&M when he did his capsule collection with the brand. I have always loved his use of colour. He’s been a role model for such a long time” she continues. The creatives got to know each other when Williamson contacted them about buying something from Dusty Deco. “So after we connected, we reached out and said, ‘let’s do something together’,” says Lina.

The idea was to keep things open and free to start — a perfect approach for the two brands that never hesitate to break the rules when it comes to pairing patterns, textures, colours and styles. “From the very beginning it has been a natural process — and very fun,” says Lina. “For our first meeting, I had prepared a moodboard with cosmic-like imagery, and when he showed us the artwork he had prepared — it was of  moons, stars, palm trees – it was completely connected. We were speaking the same language and it was such a nice way to start a collaboration.” From here, they began a steady back and forth of ideas and inspiration, leading them to the 10-piece collection that includes rugs, blankets, a sofa and a daybed. The Star Gazer throw came out of a spontaneous drawing Williamson had made and sent via what’s app. “I knew we had to do something with this drawing,” Lina, who then prepared the Matisse-like landscape pattern for their factory in Italy who could weave it into the throw. “I am in love with this piece.”

he Wildcat rug grew out of their mutual love of animal prints, but tweaking them and adding colour. “Matthew has such a sensitivity with colour; seeing how he dares to mix colours has been soon cool; a nice symbiosis,” says Lina. Other pieces include the Lola Beaten Track sofa, whose psychedelic-like labyrinthine pattern comes in peach or green versions. The new collection fits seamlessly into Dusty Deco’s bold and eclectic showroom that features a mix of their furniture, objects and rugs, along with vintage pieces, contemporary art and off-beat flea market finds. “This is the kind of space we wanted to have here,” says Edin. “A series of rooms to play with and create an impact.” Earlier pieces in their collection have revealed the influence of Mallorca, such as the bestselling Arco chair, which was inspired by the repetitive form of arcs seen in the historic architecture around Palma, but this new collaboration with Williamson adds a new layer. The collection has a sense of joy and abundance that embraces Mallorcan living and reflects the creative freedom that both brands are known for bringing to every project.
