ashion meets art in a new collaboration between the fashion brand MASSCOB and the non-profit cultural foundation, ALTTRA. With roots in Galicia, MASSCOB has become a reference for elegantly tailored clothing, gorgeous sweaters & knits, for men and women, focused on natural materials and timeless, handcrafted style. Their boutique in Palma encapsulates their aesthetic, an inviting, warm space awash in a soft glow of creamy earth tones, natural stone and light wood. ALTTRA Foundation launched in 2024 with a mission of supporting contemporary art in the Balearics, including an exhibition with Brazilian artist Cildo Meireles that took place in several spaces in Palma last year. Through exhibitions, public programs and site-specific installations, ALTTRA adds an important layer to the island’s contemporary art scene.
This summer, the two creative projects launched a SS25 capsule collection featuring original drawings by Abraham Cruzvillegas, the Mexican-born multimedia artist whose work is deeply influenced by his surroundings and the concept of "self-construction," inspired by the improvised and collaborative building he witnessed during his childhood in Mexico City. Cruzvillegas participated in a unique four-day workshop around songwriting in Palma, in 2024, as part of ALTTRA'S programming. Rosario Nadal and the ALTTRA foundation approached MASSCOB about doing a collaboration based on their shared values and approach to creation. "The motivation behind this artistic collaboration was, on the one hand, the desire to transcend the traditional boundaries of fashion and approach a deeper dialogue between art and design. ALTTRA'S mission to promote contemporary art, and its approach to resource management was instrumental in formalizing this collaboration. It was a challenge for us to participate in such an exciting project, and we embraced it as a natural extension of the house's philosophy," Jacobo Cobián & Marga Massanet, the founders of MASSCOB, explain.
