ounded in Llucmajor in 1927, Begudes Puig is more than just a soft drink producer: it is a living piece of the island’s identity. Nearly a century ago, Puig became the first brand to produce carbonated refreshments in Mallorca, laying the foundation for what would become a deeply rooted local legacy.

Among its refreshing creations, one flavour stands above the rest: the iconic Pinya. With its unmistakable pineapple taste, it remains a nostalgic touchpoint for generations of Mallorcans: a drink that evokes family gatherings, summer afternoons, and the unmistakable rhythm of island life. The balance between heritage and progress defines Puig’s identity: a company that respects its past while continuing to evolve. Still family-owned after three generations, the company is now led by Julià Puig Mòjer, who has been at the helm since 1988.

At the core of Puig lies a clear and contemporary philosophy, built around three key pillars: locality, circular economy, and social relevance. Production remains on the island, using local resources and reinforcing a commitment to proximity and authenticity. Puig has long been ahead of its time in sustainability: returnable glass packaging, no reliance on plastic, and a zero-waste mindset are operational realities. Looking ahead, the company is exploring innovative solutions such as incorporating rainwater into its production processes, further reducing environmental impact.

eyond production, Puig’s presence extends into the community by sponsoring cultural events and supporting local initiatives, the brand continues to play an active role in Mallorca’s social and cultural fabric. If Puig had to be distilled into a single concept, it would be its distinctive “three A’s”: Authentic, faithful to its origins and its island; Artisanal, preserving traditional methods and craftsmanship; Aroma, capturing the sensory essence that defines its drinks. This DNA allows Puig to stand apart in an increasingly homogenised beverage market.

While tradition remains its foundation, Puig has expanded its product range to meet the demands of contemporary consumers. Today, the brand offers not only its classic refreshments, but also mixers and isotonic drinks such as Esportiu, reflecting a shift toward more active and diverse lifestyles.
Puig is not simply consumed; it is remembered, shared, and lived. From its beginnings in Llucmajor to its role today as a symbol of Mallorcan authenticity, the brand represents something increasingly rare: continuity with meaning. As Mallorca looks toward the future, Puig stands as proof that innovation and tradition are not opposing forces, but partners in creating something enduring.
